About Ummah Email

Building the digital infrastructure for the global Muslim community

Tie your camel.

اعقلها وتوكل

i'qilha wa tawakkal

"Tie it and trust in Allah."

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ · Tirmidhi 2517 (also Ibn Majah, Bayhaqi)

The foundational text in Islamic ethics for tawakkul + asbab - trust Allah, and take the means.

By "tying our camel" we mean digital sovereignty: Muslim-owned mail server, Muslim-owned identity, Muslim-owned servers in EU jurisdiction. The trust side stays with Allah; this is the means side.

Why Not Gmail?

1

Project Nimbus

In 2021, Google signed a $1.2 billion contract with the Israeli military to provide cloud infrastructure and AI tools. Every Gmail user is a number on that company's books.

2

Your Data Is the Product

Gmail scans your inbox to build an advertising profile. Your Ramadan emails, your charity receipts, your family conversations - all processed to sell ads.

3

You Own Nothing

Google can suspend your account at any time. Your @gmail.com address is a rental. yourname@ummah.email is infrastructure built by Muslims, for Muslims.

Your Data, Your Trust

Privacy-First Design

We built ummah.email with privacy at its core. Your emails are not scanned, not sold, not shared. We use privacy-first analytics with no third-party ad tracking. Your inbox is yours alone.

No Data Selling

No Ad Tracking

Why Muslim digital identity matters

Every time a Muslim app launches, it builds identity from scratch. Separate logins. Separate profiles. A Muslim might have accounts on UmmahJobs, a halal restaurant directory, an Islamic learning platform, a charity site — with no continuity between them. Your reputation on one platform means nothing on another. Your giving history lives in a silo. Your handle is up for grabs on every new app.

This is not a small inconvenience. It is infrastructure debt. Every duplicated login form is friction that slows Muslim digital adoption. Every disconnected profile is a missed opportunity for Muslim institutions to recognize and serve you. The Ummah deserves better plumbing.

One identity. The whole Muslim internet.

UmmahPass is the identity layer that fixes this. Your @screenname works across every UMG property: UmmahPlaces business directory, UmmahCauses giving, UmmahJobs careers, MuslimTorrents, UmmahArmy community missions, ummah.city. Sign in once. Your verified identity, your UmmahPoints balance, and your community reputation travel with you.

UmmahPass (free) gives you the identity. Ummah One ($5/month) activates the full presence: a real @ummah.email inbox — not a forwarder, a full IMAP mailbox on Muslim-owned servers in Europe — plus your public ummah.me/yourname profile and automatic 10% sadaqah disbursement to vetted Muslim charities every month.

Where we started

Ummah Media Group started in 2009 with two products: UmmahJobs — a Muslim-focused careers platform — and MuslimTorrents — a torrent tracker for Islamic media. Neither product was glamorous. Both were genuine gaps: Muslims needed a place to find halal employment and a place to share Islamic lectures without uploading to YouTube.

Muslim Ad Network came later, and became the revenue engine that funded the rest. Today MAN connects Muslim-owned publishers with Muslim-friendly advertisers, running on DV360 and EPOM infrastructure. It is what keeps the lights on while we build the broader ecosystem.

Seventeen years, thirteen properties

The ecosystem today spans 13 properties: UmmahPass, UmmahPlaces, UmmahCauses, UmmahArmy, UmmahJobs, MuslimTorrents, ummah.city, ummah.me, UmmahBuzz, MasjidConnect, and more. We are not building for scale for its own sake. Each property solves a real gap in Muslim digital infrastructure. The connective tissue — UmmahPass identity, UmmahPoints currency, shared OAuth — is what makes the whole greater than its parts.

ummah.city is the front door to all of it — opening on 1 Muharram 1448 (approximately July 16, 2026) with the Muslim internet's first unified digital district: email, prayer times, halal dining, giving, careers, and community — all under one sovereign Muslim roof.

What "sovereign" actually means

"Built sovereign" is not a marketing word. It is a checklist.

  • Muslim-owned mail server — we run Stalwart on a dedicated Hetzner server in EU jurisdiction. Your @ummah.email mail never touches Google or Microsoft infrastructure.
  • Privacy-first analytics — we use Matomo, self-hosted, not Google Analytics. No cross-site tracking profiles. No ad retargeting off your UmmahPass activity.
  • Halal income only — UMG earns from Muslim memberships and Muslim-friendly advertising. No interest-based finance, no investment in prohibited industries.
  • Muslim-owned entity — UMG LLC is a US-based Muslim-owned company. Norco, California. Every engineering, operations, and product decision runs through Muslim leadership with Muslim values.

Sovereignty in Islamic ethics is not about isolation — it is about ownership of the means. Tie your camel. Take the means that Allah has provided, then trust. The means we are building are digital: email infrastructure, identity infrastructure, giving infrastructure, community infrastructure. All Muslim-owned. All under our control.
