Is there a free option?

How does the 10% charity set-aside work?
Every month, 10% of what you pay is set aside for a vetted Muslim charity through UmmahCauses. You pick the cause. Disbursement begins once our charity partners finish onboarding, and the ledger is public — you'll see every dollar and where it lands.
What happens to my handle if Ummah Media Group folds?
You get a 90-day notice, a full IMAP export, and a portable forwarding window. Your @handle stays reserved across the family of UMG products via the open identity layer. Sovereignty plan and runbook live at the sovereignty page.
Will my emails actually land in inboxes?
Yes. DKIM, SPF, and DMARC are configured and aligned. We run our own mail server in Helsinki, not a shared sender pool. Deliverability is monitored daily, and we publish bounce and reject rates on the transparency page.
Can I keep my current email address?
Yes. ummah.email becomes your new identity address, but you can forward mail in from your old Gmail or Outlook account while you transition. We never force you to move overnight.
How is this different from ProtonMail or Tuta?
Privacy is table stakes for all three. The differences: only ummah.email sets aside 10% for vetted Muslim charities, pairs your handle with a public profile at ummah.me/yourname, and is built by a Muslim-owned team for a Muslim audience.
What if I cancel?
Cancel anytime from your account settings. You keep access through the end of your billing period. We do not lock your data, do not gate exports, do not bury the cancel button.
Who can technically read my email?
Honest answer: today, we could. Your mail is stored encrypted at rest and every connection uses TLS in transit, but we hold the keys, so a valid legal order could compel access, the same as any mail provider that is not end-to-end encrypted. What is different: we are Muslim-owned, we run our own servers in Helsinki, we put no ads in your inbox, and we never sell, profile, or train on your mail. We do not offer end-to-end encryption, the kind where not even we could read your mail, and we will not claim otherwise. The trust page explains exactly what we do and do not protect.
Can my family or team have handles too?
Yes. Each handle is its own Ummah One seat, pay what you can from $1/mo. Family and team handles share the same 10% sadaqah set-aside, and each gets their own profile at ummah.me/handle.
How do I move from Gmail or Outlook?
Forward your old inbox to your new @ummah.email handle, then update accounts one by one at your own pace. We never force a cutover. A guided migration walkthrough lives at /hijrah.
